Some Gena Spline Extensions are offset from center of spline?

I see this on pretty much any configuration of spline - curved or straight, single or branching, etc. Does anyone know why the detail removal and tree removal extensions for my gena splines are always offset? The terrain texture extension seems to work fine and is centered on the spline, but the others don't match up.

Hi there @rgresko,

This issue appears to be related to the difference in resolutions on the Terrain and the extensions are picking up on that.

You could try upping the resolution of the Texture Details and Grass Details to see if it makes any sort of difference perhaps?

Also, could you try taking a top down orthographic screen shot of the offset of both the Clear Details and Clear Trees?

Do you mean the mesh resolution on terrain data section in the terrain settings (pic below)? I changed the "Detail Resolution" setting here from 512 to 1024 (and tried higher ranges as well) and it did help, but it didn't fully correct the issue (the 'remove trees' extension is worse off than 'remove details' now, is that a different setting?

-a downside to adjusting the detail resolution is that the amounts of grass my spawners create exploded to an enormous size. I guess I could go through and readjust all the spawn parameters, but is there another was to fix this besides adjusting the detail resolution?

no rotation or scaling

I have it up at 50 y so I can have deeper water areas.

Hey @rgresko,

I was finally able to replicate the issue on my machine. Standby as I continue to investigate...

Hey @rgresko,

I finally found the issue with the system, it appears that one of the internal math algorithms was slightly wrong. It didn't take into account truncation. I appear to have fixed it in the master branch, I'll try to push for an update shortly!

awesome!

I have a side question - is there a way to automate the running of all spline extensions on all gena splines, so I don't have to manually click through all of them each time I respawn my biome, etc?

Hey @rgresko

Happy to announce that there is a new version of GeNa Pro that addresses this issue:

As for your additional question, yes there is a way to update all of the Splines without clicking them.

You could try finding all of the Splines in the Scene with:
var splines = FindObjectsOfType<GeNaSpline>();

And loop through each of the splines and call: spline.UpdateSpline();

There are still issues (different but substantial) with any splines created before updating. For previously created splines, basically now the 'remove trees' seems centered well, but 'terrain texture' and 'remove details' are offset on different sides of the spline. Tested with a newly created spline and see the same results. Will send a pic in a bit showing this.

this is a new spline created after updating. My other previously created splines have a similar issue. It seems like 'clear trees' is now aligned to the spline (like the 'terrain - texture') used to be, but now the terrain-texture and 'remove details' are offset in different ways from the spline.

Update: Gena Pro update 3.4.6 fixes the terrain extension being offset (thanks!), but the clear details offset is still there. This is with both old and newly created splines.

hi there! any updates on this one? Thanks!

Hi there,

I can confirm that Clear Details has indeed been fixed. If you are still experiencing issues, perhaps we could connect and you can show me the context of how you are using it and we can get to the bottom of the issue? 🙂
