Stop at point along path

Not through code no. 
We do have a guide that explains the Unity timeline, and being able to control it with that if you are wanting to start and stop it. 

Otherwise, you could create multiple pegasus tracks, and then use code to connect them, then do something like a trigger collider to enable them.

Can you point me to that guide? Also, if using the timeline can you reverse direction?
