Gaia - reusing textures

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was trying to reuse textures on different biome. I received message that I should remove terrain layers (I done so). Now, when I spawn textures. gaia has trouble with adding automatically texture to terrain (and texture doesn't appear on terrain).

Generally I see the problem is mostly visible when I spawned another biome on same terrain beforehand. Is that somehow incorrect? Are there any quick fixes, or is it necessary to reset terrain layers everytime?

You should only be using one texture spawner per terrain.
This is mainly due to Unity's Texture limits.
You can only have 8 textures on a terrain.

I could see it that this would cause an issue unless you have multiple biomes with each having a texture spawner and each spawner only having one or two textures in it.

So, I have limited my number of textures to only 3-4 per terrain. In example below, when I spawn "Meadow Soil" texture it covers terrain and make "Sand_Beach" (which shares texture with Underwwater Sand) invisible. But Meadow Soil is before it, so it's the one that should be masked. I already tried removing resources from terrain.

I trired to refresh texture components (base map, normal and mask). Now it spawned sand instead of soil (all other rules were turned off):

Creating new spawner and applying same rules again helps, but I gues it shouldn't work like that...

Typically, I create one spawner for textures for that terrain.
This way I know how the biome will react.
Stages of the spawns work like an actual painting so that is correct. It will spawn what is first and then each texture after is overlayed on that.
The resource helper which can be found in the gaia manager - advanced - tools - resource helper can easily remove the terrain textures if you need them to. Most of the time this is the best way to ensure all aspects of the texture are gone.
