Flora not appearing in play mode?

I have a terrain I've created, spawned the biome etc - I can see the 'white' foliage in the scene view, but when I go into play mode I can see the foliage briefly but then it disappears? 

 

Ideas?

Are you using the Gaia Custom Controller? 
Then assigning your player and camera to that? 
Remember that you can not tab out either, because it is being instanced.
