Big Environment Content Pack - Launched!

Hi Everyone,

as mentioned we are working on a spawner pack for the "Big Environment Pack Reforged", here are some Work in progress screenshots from the output of the Gaia Biome:

Working with the pack has been challenging in so far as that it has a lot of content where we need to make sensible decisions about what we put into a Gaia spawner and what we shouldn't - for example there are a lot of different tree and nature assets in the pack, if we would add all those to a Gaia spawner that would be great for variety on the terrain, but it would kill performance on larger terrains when we are putting 50+ different trees on there.

With some of the models there is also the challenge that they were not necessarily made for automated placement, it is e.g. challenging to place an open cliff model in such fashion that it always integrates well with the terrain without manually adjusting the terrain heights.

As with our other spawner packs we are looking into adding unofficial support for the URP / HDRP render pipelines - the Big Environment pack officially only supports the built-in pipeline, but we might be able to adapt the pack to the other pipelines by utilizing the shaders included with Gaia. Stay tuned for more updates as we progress further on this pack.

@Peter Hi there - was just wondering how this was coming along?  Assume it is SRP only?  I know the publisher of the asset has created a URP version but it's a WIP...?

@Duffer123 Hi there, it is getting close to being finished. We did a review for SRP compatibility today and we think we should be able to make it compatible with URP and HDRP by using Gaias shaders. It would require us however to re-publish some of the textures of the original big environment pack, so we asked the author for permission to not create any legal issues.

@Peter, thanks for the response.  Did wonder about that but forgot about Gaia's own shaders.  Hopefully there will be no legal issues - I hazard an educated guess that this pack is REALLY going to showcase not only Gaia and Gena but also this Asset too.

Watching this space!

Just curious, will it compatible with the low poly version?
