Road Decals - DONE!

Hi Everyone!

We have been experimenting with adding HDRP road decals on top of our GeNa generated roads to add more variations and details!

This is currently only supported in HDRP, as our roads use a transparent shader and HDRP has support for drawing decals on top of transparent materials - URP currently does not. Maybe we could make an option to swap the URP road shader to just an opaque renderer, then URP could be supported.

So far we have cracks, oil spills, industrial types such as manholes and grates, faded paint, rocks, dirt, newly placed asphalt and transition decals from the road to the ground.

Let us know what you think and if you have any other suggestions on what to add!

A closer look at the decals:

I also plan on hopefully adding Parallax Occlusion Mapping to the HDRP/Decal shader in the future, to allow a more detailed illusion of depth on some of the decals. Below you can see it working on a custom Decal Shader Graph, however, at this time the Shader Graph version of the Decal Shader does not support drawing on transparent materials.

The potholes and asphalt patches are all very rustic highway style, it's be nice to have some cleaner versions of those as well.

Water (puddles in potholes) and just wet roads in general

General trash - paper and gunk that'd stick to the road surface (good for cities and wasteland)

Strings of tar from when it sometimes get gets spilled and dried on the road and it looks like bubblegum but tar.

Loose asphalt

Other tarmac surfaces like runways

a few type of bridge expansion joints

Great suggestions BunnyViking! I'll add them to list of decals to make!
