When does Gaia set quality settings (Shadow Distance) for lighting?

Or does it?

Im curious exactly what when or where... prompts Gaia to overwrite quality settings (actually, im not even sure if it is Gaia, but theres nothing else in my project that has any concern for light , settings, etc.), as i am finding myself returning to Quality Settings again and again to correct the insane shadow draw distance that (possibley Gaia?) sets to 512 units. But it only seems to happen - maybe when i tinker with the Gaia Lighting Global Settings panel?

If not Gaia, and anyone has any thoughs, i'd appreciate it,

Standard renderer.

Thanks

The only time it should update is when you select the Gaia Skies in the runtime settings in the Gaia Manager.
If you change the preset sky to day or night it might adjust the settings there.
The way you can check is to set the Skies to none and use your own settings.
If you plan on using your own Sky system or a third-party asset I would set this to none.
